Renowned baking writer Mary Berry and professional baker Paul Hollywood also looked at how the British wedding cake has changed dramatically through the centuries, from Tudor and Victorian times to wartime Britain, the affluent 80s and present day.
As well as a traditional tiered wedding cake, Edd, Miranda and Ruth each created a contemporary wedding cake in their own individual style with Ruth choosing a lemon meringue tower, Miranda a white chocolate cake and Edd a macaroon tower.
