Guests were able to have a go themselves at making an ice cream, sorbet or granita and it certainly looked like fun – here is the tasty looking menu from the day:
• Granita di caffè espresso
• Marmalade ice cream Philadelphia-style using an antique Mrs Marshall Ice Cream Machine
• Prince of Wales ice cream (sugar ice cream) featuring demerara and muscovado
• Lemon sorbet
• Grape juice lollies
• Rich vanilla ice cream
• Ultimate chocolate ice cream
• ‘Frrrrrrrozen’ hot chocolate
“Thanks for a super morning demo today. Most enjoyable. The chance to hear Robin and Caroline enthuse about ice-creams and then to sample their recipes was a joy. Tapping into their knowledge was a privilege. Really high calibre guest demonstrators. Thanks again for such a well thought-out event, I'd very much like to be on your emailing list for similar events. I had thought that Squires only offered courses and events about cakes and baking… I'm delighted to find that there is more on offer. The school is a gorgeous building and environment - bright and beautiful.
After refreshments, each guest took away a goody bag and a signed copy of the ultimate ice cream book, Ice Creams, Sorbets and Gelati by Caroline and Robin Weir (Grub Street) and went home full of knowledge (and ice cream!).
Squires Kitchen stocks many ice cream accessories such as silicone ice cream moulds, chocolate decorations, retro porcelain ice cream cups and spoons, books, scoops, flavourings and decorations.
The cookery school at The Grange is regularly used to hold demonstrations by guest authors, celebrity chefs and food stylists so make sure you check here regularly to find out who’s coming to Squires Kitchen next.
