Making your own fresh bread is a fantastic life skill and one that fills your home with the unrivalled and welcoming smell of freshly baked bread. Award winning baker, Keith Kirby, will show you the basics of bread baking and you will go home with an amazing selection of delicious breads you will be proud to share with family and friends!

Keith will start the course with an introduction to the basic ingredients and a share essential knowledge and tips on how to successfully make bread in your own home kitchen. You will be introduced to mixing techniques and shown different approaches to developing the dough, you will then  learn the art of shaping, simple decorating and baking to make a variety of speciality breads. Keith will show you how to make several different doughs during the course including tasty enriched doughs for exciting sweet and savoury breads.

On day one, we will cover all the essential bread making knowledge and you will be hands-on producing a basic white cob loaf, a walnut loaf, bread rolls and a bread that is perfect to ‘tear and share’. We will also show you how to prepare different enriched doughs that will ferment overnight ready to use on day 2.  

On day 2 we will show you how to work with the prepared enriched doughs to produce mini-brioche, plus savoury and sweet specialities where you will experience different ways to shape and present your delicious finished breads.

What you will learn:

  • The basics you need to make any type of bread
  • How to work the dough successfully
  • How to shape bread including tear and share shapes
  • How to bake a variety of loaves, rolls and shaped bread
  • How to make basic enriched dough for both sweet and savoury speciality breads

At the end of each day you will go home with all the bread that you bake ready to share with friends and family, or pop straight in the freezer to enjoy another day and make your bread making experience last even longer!

Our two day bread making extravaganza is suitable for all levels of baker.
