Piping is an essential skill for all sugarcrafters to master. Join royal icing expert Tessa Whitehouse on this one day course to practice and perfect your piping. Over the course of the day you will experiment with the various patterns that can be created with a simple shell nozzle, learn how to drop even scallops around the side of a cake and achieve a perfectly rounded hand-piped pearl. You will leave with the confidence to create your own stunning designs and a Squires Kitchen certificate of achievement.

On this one day course Tessa will take you through the process of making royal icing and will demonstrate how to achieve and adjust the consistency to suit different piping needs. You will learn the essential techniques behind piping skills such as shells, pearls and dropped lines. Put these into practice by creating a reference sample board and decorating your own cake to take home.
Whatever type of sugarcraft you are interested in, basic piping skills are universally helpful due to the precise nature and hand-eye coordination required. These skills can also be transferred to both buttercream and chocolate work.
This course is suitable for those with little or no royal icing experience who are looking to learn about royal icing or refine their piping skills further.
Things You Will Learn: How to make and adapt royal icing for different uses, how to make a piping bag, piping techniques including shells, lines and pearls and creating patterns.
