If you'd like to learn the skills needed to cover celebration cakes to a professional finish with sugarpaste (fondant), this is an essential course for you. You will also learn how to create simple decorations and benefit from an introduction to a wide range of basic sugarcraft tools.
Course tutor: Claire Fitzsimons
On this one-day course, sugarcraft expert tutor Claire Fitzsimons will teach you how to cover a 6" round fruit cake and board with both marzipan and sugarpaste (fondant) to a professional standard.
She will show you how to make beautiful festive decorations to adorn and personalise your cake, including delicate Hellebores (Lenten roses), holly leaves and berries. Make as many as you like according to time and apply the techniques at home to make more if needed. Claire will also explain how to use various sugarcraft tools and techniques to create clever fabric and textured effects. Under her expert guidance, you will also discover how to use plunger cutters, silicone moulds and impression mats.
You will leave this course with the perfect Christmas cake and the confidence to create impressive celebration cakes and decorations all year round.
